Introduction
Two borehole sites were drilled in 1986 at Keenwild (KNW) in the San Jacinto Mountains and at the Piñon Flat Observatory (PFO) in the Santa Rosa Wilderness. Both sites consist of two holes (150m and 300m) which are both cased. Near surface site effects were examined using 8Hz Mark Products geophones at both KNW and PFO, (see reference below). In 1988, Mark Products L-22D 2Hz geophones were installed in each hole and logged on 12-bit USGS GEOS recorders until May 1989. In 1991, the 300 meter sensors were recorded on 16-bit Reftek recorders until May 1992.
