About this page
The interactive Google map on this page shows the most recent earthquakes recorded by the Anza network. Earthquakes are colored by age from present, and scaled by magnitude (see the legend in the layer to the right of the map layer). Clicking the earthquake on the map layer displays a tabbed window containing information on the specific event.
Move the map around by using the arrow keys in the top left of the map or click and drag the cursor in the map layer. Zoom in and out of the map by using the slider bar, or plus and minus buttons, in the map layer. Reset the map view by clicking the four arrow key in the center of the navigation console in the map layer. Move the map region of focus by clicking and dragging in the inset map in the bottom right corner of the map layer. Dynamically show and hide the inset map by clicking the arrow button in the inset map layer.
Interactively show and hide faults in Southern California by checking or unchecking the boxes next to each fault in the "Load/unload a fault zone" layer to the right of the map. Fault traces are displayed in dark red. Fault resolution drops off at ~30ft.
Note: Turning on all the faults and dragging the map takes a lot of processing memory. It is highly recommended that you use this page only if you have a broadband connection to the internet.
