Amery Ice Shelf Loose Tooth Monitoring 2005-2006 We entered into the sea ice after a few days. Our first stop was Casey Station, the easternmost Australian Antarctic base. Several people got off the ship there, but we did not pull all the way in, so they were transported ashore by helicopter. Before the ship entered into the thickest sea ice (about 6 feet thick!) the helicopter pilots flew ahead to scout for the best path. |
