Amery Ice Shelf Loose Tooth Monitoring 2005-2006
Previous | Home | Next
One danger of working on the ice shelf is the possibility of someone
falling into a crevasse. We protect ourselves by always being connected to other people on a rope. Anthony Hull, or 'Hully' as he is
known, is our field officer. He took us out to an ice cliff so we
could practice the techniques we would need to handle such an event.
We traveled there by helicopter. Here, Marianne is climbing back up
while Kath McMahon and Heidi Caldon, graduate students from Macquarie
University in Sydney, Australia, support her.
