Saturday night dinners were special occasions at Davis Station: the chefs cooked up elaborate meals and everyone dressed in nice clothes. On the final Saturday, there was a performace by the Davis band (including Jim there on keyboard), which lasted until the early hours of Sunday morning. There were many talented musicians and singers on station, and the band members' day jobs reflects the diversity of people who work in Antarctica: carpenter, plumber, meteorologist, physicist, airplane mechanic, geophysicist, medical doctor.
