This week we will be concentrating on typography and creating a table of contents for our book.
- Styles
- Loading styles from another document:
- In the Styles palette, do one of the following:
- Choose Load Character Styles or Load Paragraph Styles in the Styles palette menu.
- Choose Load All Styles in the Styles palette menu to load both character and paragraph styles.
- Double-click the InDesign document containing the styles you want to import.
- Showing hidden characters: Type > Show Hidden Characters
- Finding & Formatting: Edit > Find/Change > Find Format Settings
- Redefining styles
- Creating text on a path:
- Drawing objects from center: Alt + Shift
- Path Type: making arcs, editing start/end position
- Fancy paragraph formatting
- Adding glyphs
- Flush space
- Applying gradients to paragraphs
- Drop Cap
- Working with tabs: Type > Tabs
- Using books and tables of contents

Homework Assignments
- Make a book with 5 sections of poetry, each in a separate document
- Make a book with those 5 sections
- Make a style sheet for a book with the following styles:
- Title
- Subtitle
- Paragraph
- Header
- Footer
- Table of Contents
- Make a table of contents for the book
